Get Started

We Are Here
When You Are Ready.

A support worker and young man are working on puzzle outdoors.

If you're thinking about respite support, here's what happens when you get in touch with Unique Respite Services, from the first conversation through finding the right fit.

Start With A Call Or Email

Tell us a little about your loved one, what you're looking for, and what support might look like.

We'll talk through what you need, answer your questions, and see whether Unique might be a good fit.

Meet In Person

If it sounds like we can help, we'll meet in person, usually in your home.

We'll talk through your loved one's needs, routines, interests, medical considerations, funding and anything else that helps us understand the whole picture.

It's also a chance for everyone to meet.

Try It Out

If it feels like a good fit, we'll arrange a paid trial with the support worker we've chosen based on what we've learned.

The trial gives everyone a chance to see how the relationship feels in practice.

No catalogue. No guessing. A real person, a real interaction, a chance to see what works.

Move Forward

If it feels right, we move forward together.

Once the contract is in place, we develop your loved one's Support Plan, a detailed document that brings together the information needed to provide consistent support and meet Passport funding requirements.

Then we formalize the individual protocols and other details that help keep support safe and consistent.

We Plan For The Unexpected

Good support means being prepared when things don't go according to plan.

Every person has an individual plan for what to do if they're unwell, upset, or need to leave an activity unexpectedly. And every outing has a way home.

The goal isn't to expect something to go wrong. It's to know what we'll do if it does.

Depending on the individual, the plan may include:

  • Whom to contact first

  • What information responders may need

  • What to do in different circumstances

  • Relevant medical considerations

  • Family and emergency contacts

  • Other individual-specific instructions

Our Families Know.......

They will be listened to.

Their loved one will be treated with dignity.

Support will be individualized.

Relationships will matter.

Safety will be taken seriously.

Progress will be celebrated without defining their loved one.
